Description

The course introduces and exposes students to the power and capabilities of radio. It encourages students to listen, to learn and to understand the characteristics of radio as a distinctive aural communication medium. It will open up radio as an informative, educative and entertaining means of communication. The module also examines and explores the creative range and possibilities of radio. The module establishes and teaches the operational techniques of audio editing. The module also instructs and explains the range, power, diversity and meaning of sound and wild track as an aural language on which radio depends. The module shows and teaches the students how to research, create and produce a radio piece for broadcast.

Learning Outcomes

1. Recognise and identify the range, complexity and creative auditory nature of radio broadcasting.
2. Present a written radio script.
3. Collect and reproduce wild track and sound language.
4. Prepare and construct a radio piece for broadcast.
5. Illustrate a proficiency in audio editing.
