Description
The purpose of this module to to allow postgraduate research students to develop and apply the skills required for presenting and publishing their research. This module covers the presentation of results in poster or oral format at a conference, aswell as publication as a paper in a journal.

Learning Outcomes
1. Discuss the current state-of-the-art in their research field 2. Interpret experimental results in the context of their impact on the state-of-the-art in their particular field 3. Evaluate results for potential publication or presention 4. Formulate a hypothesis/hypotheses for the publication/presentation 5. Concisely present and critically discuss research highlights that can prove/disprove the hypotheses 6. Draw conclusions on the work and articulate the significance of the research in the wider context 7. Identify a journal or conference with appropriate scope for publication of work 8. Format a manuscript/presentation to meet formatting standards set out by publisher

Reflective journal | Students must submit their reflective journal tracking the development of their full paper/presentation (to include Introduction and Results & Discussion). This documentation will be submitted to the assessment panel which will comprise of 3 members with appropriate knowledge to assess module. | 60% | | Participation | Student must either: (1) submit and have accepted a piece of research in a peer-reviewed journal OR (2) orally present their research at an international conference. Dissemination documentation will be submitted to the assessment panel which will comprise 3 academic faculty members with appropriate knowledge to assess the module. | 30% | | Group presentation | The student will present an overview of their research field to their own research group (or at another internal forum, e.g., school seminar).
