Description The aim of this module is to develop student skills and competencies associated with working outside academia, thus broadening their innovation emphasis and improving employability. This will be achieved through the integration of the theory and expertise acquired during their research programme, with relevant practical inter-sectoral experience obtained through working with relevant enterprises, e.g. companies and/or other organisations, in Ireland or abroad. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Learning Outcomes 1. Apply theoretical and practical aspects of the research programme to relevant practical work experience in relevant enterprises, companies or organisations based in Ireland and abroad. 2. Demonstrate initiative and ingenuity in deriving novel solutions to specific problems encountered during the time spent with the enterprise partner. 3. Assess the importance of task management, planning, working in teams and interdisciplinary collaboration in an enterprise environment. 4. Communicate concepts and ideas that formed part of the enterprise experience by oral, written and graphical means. 5. Demonstrate professional attributes, such as attendance, punctuality, reliability, etc. 6. Document their duties performed, distinguishing for their own role, and describe the development of products/processes and related commercial issues. 7. Identify their own learning needs; assess their progress in developing technical and/or professional skills and be able to outline a career plan. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
