Description This module introduces the concepts of entrepreneurship and innovation from the perspective of individuals, firms, industries and countries; it describes the challenges individuals and firms face in pursuing entrepreneurship and innovation; it identifies factors associated with success in entrepreneurship and innovation; and it explores the outcomes of entrepreneurship and innovation, including firm growth. These issues are explored in contexts such as new businesses, small- and medium sized enterprises, high growth firms, high-tech firms, and rapidly internationalizing firms. The module introduces different perspectives, theories and research underpinning entrepreneurship and innovation. In particular the module: •Provides an understanding of the different approaches to the management of entrepreneurship and innovation. •Reviews challenges and success factors in entrepreneurship and innovation. •Introduces a variety of models and tools to support innovation (such as the innovation value chain). | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Learning Outcomes 1. Summarise the factors associated with success in entrepreneurship and innovation. 2. Discuss the factors that explain the growth of businesses. 3.
