Description

To equip student teachers with the ability to define, create and maintain an effective learning environment. To introduce students to contemporary approaches in a range of teaching & learning skills. To develop confidence in a range of initial teaching skills through reviews, analysis, demonstration, peer coaching and guided feedback To provide students with a detailed knowledge and understanding of the content and assessment methodology of the Junior Cycle and Senior Cycle curricula in CSPE in second-level schools. All students are required to participate in Micro-teaching as part of this module.

Learning Outcomes

1. Describe the content, methodology and assessment techniques of the Junior Cycle and Senior Cycle syllabus in CSPE as taught in second-level schools
2. Map an appropriate teaching scheme for the Junior Cycle and Senior Cycle Syllabus in CSPE as taught in second-level schools.
3. Articulate and relate the appropriate teaching methods and specific challenges in delivering CSPE as taught in second-level schools.
4. Design a range of resources appropriate for use in the teaching CSPE as taught in second-level schools.
5. Work in collegiality with colleagues in the interests of sharing, promoting, developing and supporting best professional practice in the teaching of CSPE in second level schools.
6. Facilitate and supervise Junior Cycle Action Projects and Course Work Assessment Booklets
