Description

The purpose of this module is to enable participants to recognize the role of education as a critical pillar in government strategies for innovation, knowledge building and development toward knowledge-based economies and societies. The broad objective of the module is to build leadership capacity for examining and rethinking the role of education and training systems to adapt and respond to emerging needs and macro trends for knowledge-based socio-economic development.

Learning Outcomes

1. critically analyse education policies and strategies in relation to development towards knowledge societies and economies
2. engage in individual and community reflection on case studies, reports, trends futures and futures thinking scenarios for educational provision and development
3. apply futures thinking tools for conducting institutional/cross-institutional discourse on issues and futures scenarios and for building consensus on education development path options and strategies
4. report on practical interventions in country contexts to address education change needs and enable the outlining of futures education development path options.
