Modúl é seo ina ndíreofar ar scileanna Gaeilge na mac léinn idir shaibhriú teanga agus bheachtú cruinnis a fhorbairt chun gur fearr a bheas siad in ann an teanga a ionramháil go héifeachtach muiníneach, go háirithe agus iad á scríobh. Tabharfar tacaíocht dóibh na scileanna úd a fhorbairt a chuirfidh ar a gcumas eolas leathan a chur ar shaoithiúlacht na teanga. Anuas air sin, cuideofar leo na scileanna agus na teicnící atá riachtanach agus iad i mbun téacs Béarla a aistriú go Gaeilge a shealbhú agus a chleachtadh.

Learning Outcomes

1. Identify different text types and key macro and micro textual features.
2. Demonstrate a high level of accuracy in relation to the use of oral and written Irish.
3. Explain the purpose and main features of An Caighdeán Oifigiúil and apply it accurately and appropriately.
4. Distinguish between various types of text when engaging in the translation of material from English into Irish, and identify the appropriate language register to be employed.
5. Make use of the language skills acquired in demonstrating the ability to edit texts in Irish effectively.

Is é sprioc an mhodúil seo a chur ar chumas na mac léinn scileanna cruinnis teanga ar ardleibheál a shaothrú agus a chleachtadh. I measc na ngnéithe den teanga a bheas á bplé le linn an mhodúil, áireofar na nithe seo a leanas: foirmeacha teanga (e.g. tuisil, ainmfhocail agus briathartha a ionramháil, foirmeacha caighdeánacha agus foirmeacha canúnacha a idirdhealú, etc.), feidhm An Caighdeán Oifigiúil a thuiscint, cineál an téacs atá le haistriú a iniuchadh agus a aithint, eolas a chur réimeanna teanga éagsúla, cúrsaí téarmaíochta, comhréir, deise labhartha agus deise scríofa na Gaeilge, agus scileanna eagarthóireachta. Déanfar na scileanna éagsúla sin a chleachtadh agus a thástáil trí réimse tascanna praiticiúla a dhéanamh go seachtainiúil a bheas le haighniú mar chuid d’obair an mhodúil agus a dtabharfar aiseolas scríofa ina leith do na mic léinn mar aon le plé sna léachtaí féin ar phointí casta teanga. De bhreis ar na tascanna seachtainiúla beidh measúnachtaí scríofa le cur ar fáil mar dhlúthchuid de mheasúnú an mhodúil. Is fiú 100% de mharc an mhodúil na measúnachtaí sin.
