Description

This module further consolidates and expands the student's receptive and productive language skills: reading, writing, listening and speaking. This module will also deepen students‘ knowledge of business French vocabulary and concepts. The module is conducted entirely through French.

Learning Outcomes

1. Analyse and interpret a variety of specialised multimodal documents related to business.
2. Demonstrate a good range of vocabulary related to business French.
3. Source credible, reliable and complex information in the target language with a particular emphasis on business French.
4. Orally present individually and/or in group concrete information about a business-related subject and respond to questions with a good degree of fluency and accuracy.
5. Write a clear and well-structured report on a chosen topic within his/her field of study with a reasonable degree of accuracy.
6. Demonstrate a good command of the appropriate-level linguistic constructions and vocabulary, allowing gaps to be readily overcome with circumlocutions.

Indicative Content and Learning Activities
The module is delivered entirely in French. Students will be introduced to various aspects of French economy and business-life to provide them both with sufficient knowledge and vocabulary to be able to function adequately in an international context both academically and professionally. Some of the topics that will be covered include presenting a company (type, structure, products/services), marketing, international relations (EU, French-Irish trade relations) Students will be involved in various individual & group activities to consolidate both their language skills and knowledge of French & Francophone societies and their economy.
