Description

The general objective of the course is to assist students to become fully autonomous language learners and to enable them to achieve the level of written and oral fluency that will be required in an intercultural workplace in Ireland or abroad. It also aims to further develop students ability to apply a range of transferable skills such as time management, team work, project management and oral presentation skills. Students will learn to participate effectively in discussions on topics covered in the module

Learning Outcomes

1. 1. Extract information from a wide range of documents and audio-visual sources on concrete and abstract topics.
2. 2. Present a complex topic to an audience with a high degree of fluency appropriate to this level.
3. 3. Take an active part in discussion about both familiar and new topics, expressing and giving reasons for their opinions.
4. 4. Write a clear and well structured report on objectives, methodology and content of findings of work carried out throughout the semester using clear and detailed language, explain his/her position on a current issue and outline the benefits and drawbacks of various options.
5. 5. Use and evaluate variety of resources, e.g. dictionaries, websites, articles, audio sources etc.
