Description

This module introduces the learner to translation techniques for a variety of text types from the domain of economics in German.

Learning Outcomes

1. Translate a variety of text types within the domain of economics from German into English
2. Create appropriate, domain-specialist level texts in English
3. Utilize a range of online and and hard-copy resources in the preparation of a translation
4. Locate and critically evaluate relevant terminological resources

Indicative Content and Learning Activities

Materials
A range of SL text types will be used for translation practice, including: Company reports Economic reports and forecasts Statistical analyses Marketing and commercial documentation Teaching and Learning Methods: Lectures, group Seminars (max group size 20 students), based on pre-set work, assignments and translation practice. You will be required to attend classes and to prepare and submit translations
