Description The purpose of this module is to examine and critically assess a number of key concepts and issues associated with the behaviour of individuals and groups in organisations. Specific Organizational Behaviour theories, models and approaches will be reviewed as a lens through which to analyse individual and group behaviour in organisational contexts. The module will refer to relevant frameworks, tools and empirical research to identify evidence based approaches for introducing and sustaining organizational effectiveness. This module focus at micro and meso level of organisational effectiveness through the lens of leadership. It focuses initially on aspects of personal and group behaviour and the implications for leading and leaders. The module will cover topics such as leadership, groups/teams, communication, social networks, culture, conflict and decision making. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Learning Outcomes 1. Review the substantive models, theories and empirical research in OB which relate to modern organisational functioning. 2. Apply the various models and theories to explain individual and interpersonal behaviour in workplaces and promote effectiveness 3. Identify and apply frameworks, tools and empirical evidence to analyse individual, group and organisational level people and performance issues. 4. Demonstrate an ability to identify and provide evidence based ethical recommendations to the world of practice in response to OB issues stemming from individual and interpersonal behaviour. 5. Identify the best available scientific evidence for leading individuals, teams and developing social networks in order to sustain organisational effectiveness and evaluate how to apply this evidence. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
