Description

This module will provide students with a broad understanding of postwar European history covering the period of the Cold War and European integration. It will discuss both Eastern and Western Europe, looking at political, economic and social developments. Particular attention will be paid to the Sovietisation of Eastern Europe, to the European Social Model, and to the reintegration of East and West.

Learning Outcomes

1. Demonstrate a broad understanding of European history after 1945
2. To understand the economic transformation of both Eastern and Western Europe
3. To discuss European integration and the European Social Model
4. To discuss social and cultural change in three stages from 1945-2007
