Description Module Aims: • To provide a practical and professional complementary aspect to the student’s academic study of psychology. • To provide the opportunity to see how psychology can be integrated into professional and social situations • To offer the opportunity to gain personal and professional skills relevant to the pursuit of graduate employment and further training or study. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Learning Outcomes 1. Critically evaluate the role of psychology in their work placement 2. Recognise how academic knowledge and practical skills from the field of psychology may be applied to diverse issues in the real world 3. Demonstrate awareness of contextual and interpersonal factors in group and team work 4. Demonstrate self-direction and initiative in their own studies and in identifying evaluating and solving problems 5. Engage in reflective consideration of personal strengths and weaknesses. Recognition of how their INTRA experience and skills gained may be positively applied to the rest of their academic studies 6. Gather and report material using IT and library resources, word processing, databases and statistical software 7. Indicative Content and Learning Activities
INTRA PlacementINTRA (INtegrated TRAining) is DCU's internship programme. The aim of INTRA is to enrich students' education through real-world experience, provide a pathway for developing graduate attributes and enhancing employability. INTRA placements will be organised by the DCU Intra Office; Internships are offered in a wide and diverse range of organisations including, (amongst others) health, education, business, media, finance and sports.
