Description

A group performance module through which learners develop rehearsal skills, learn how to work together to construct a successful performance, develop repertoire, and programme a public performance. Learners are encouraged to provide and create repertoire appropriate to the ensemble.

Learning Outcomes

1. Be aware of the most effective way to rehearse
2. Develop skills in how to effectively programme and prepare their material for public performance
3. Develop critical thinking in relation to effective choice of material
4. Show evidence of self-directed and collaborative learning skills
5. Be capable of programming and performing an effective 30-minute public ensemble performance

Indicative Content and Learning Activities

An evolving ensemble module in which learners work together to create a body of music and prepare it for performance.
Over the course of this module, learners will: ° Develop rehearsal skills, ° Work together to construct a successful performance ° Develop repertoire of their choice ° Create repertoire appropriate to the ensemble ° Programme a public performance. ° Develop a group aesthetic around appropriate material and musical content ° Be exposed to varied repertoire provided by ensemble members ° Develop an appreciation of what elements are required for successful public performance of a given piece of music
