Description

The purpose of this module is introduce students to the reality of a sustained immersion in a business, or business-related organisation. Students will be expected to function as full-time employees of these organisations, ideally for 6 months, in a role related to their DCU programme. During this time it is intended that they gain the opportunity to apply knowledge and skills learned previously during their course and the opportunity to reflect both on their performance and learning during the placement.

Learning Outcomes

1. Construct a current, comprehensive and professional CV
2. Critically evaluate his/her contribution to the workplacement
3. Analyse a company's structure, processes and personnel procedures based on their workplacement experience
4. Apply university-acquired knowledge to the workplacement
5. Reflect on learning outcomes from a critical event(s) during the INTRA placement
6. Demonstrate reliability, punctuality and application in the relevant placement setting

Report(s)In order to complete INTRA, each student must submit an INTRA Report, to be emailed to intra@dcu.ie. The report is marked by the student's INTRA Tutor and must achieve a “satisfactory” rating. The purpose of the INTRA Report is to provide the student with an opportunity to document and evaluate their experience in the work place and comprises a reflective journal, a self-evaluation of performance and a self-development plan. The deadline for submission of the INTRA report is 17.00 hrs Friday 30th September 2011100%

Resit arrangements are explained by the following categories:
Resit category 1: A resit is available for both* components of the module.
Resit category 2: No resit is available for a 100% continuous assessment module.
Resit category 3: No resit is available for the continuous assessment component where there is a continuous assessment and examination element.
* ‘Both’ is used in the context of the module having a Continuous Assessment/Examination split; where the module is 100% continuous assessment, there will also be a resit of the assessment
