Description

All FTO’s operating under the JAA have two basic components to their ATPL training. The components are i) provision of theoretical knowledge required to become a commercial pilot – Ground School and ii) training to control a commercial aircraft – frozen ATPL training. As part of the Pilot Studies specialism students will complete both of these FTO training elements. The second stage of training in the FTO is the actual flight training, following which the student will be required to pass a flight exam. The main elements of this training include: • Basic Visual Flight Training o Dual flight training o Solo flight training o Basic instrument training • Instrument Flight Training o Orientation training o Night training o Instrument training o Multi-engine conversion • Procedural instrument training o Procedural instrument flying o Instrument route flying • Multi-Crew Co-operation (MCC) Training o Crew resource and flight deck management – classroom based o MCC training - simulator o Jet orientation training This element will be conducted on a pass/fail basis.
