Description The purpose of this practice placement module is to introduce the student to the practice area. The student's expected role is to participate in nursing care of children in a child-focused and family-centred context at an appropriate level. The student will develop nursing knowledge and skills in caring for the child in partnership with the family and a range of health care professionals in a variety of healthcare settings. Support on this module will be provided by clinical education facilitators, preceptors, qualified nursing staff and the module coordinator. It also aims to develop confidence and independence in nursing care decisions regarding the child and the family and to ensure quality care delivery within scope of practice. The student should exercise personal initiative in planning learning outcomes. The module also provides the student with the opportunity to link theory to practice. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Learning Outcomes 1. Use evidence based practice to inform and support nursing care of children and families in a variety heathcare settings. 2. Display a variety of communication strategies with the child and family appropriate to the clinical setting. 3. Demonstrate competence in clinical nursing skills within their scope of practice. 4. Respond to the developmental needs of the children in their care. 5.
