Description

This module aims to assist those undertaking the Graduate Certificate in Sexuality Education and Sexual Well-being and Graduate Certificate Relationships and Sexuality Education for People with Intellectual Disability to analyse the skills required to provide information and education to individuals and groups in the areas of relationships and sexual well being. Students will become proficient in adapting and structuring their teaching according to learner preferences, abilities and requirements.

Learning Outcomes

1. Explore the method and practice of teaching in the context of relationships, sexuality and sexual health.
2. Critically evaluate a range of teaching methods
3. Engage with approaches to assessing diverse learner needs and learning styles
4. Develop a programme on relationships, sexuality and sexual well being to meet the needs of a particular group of learners

Online activity24Synchronous and asynchronous modes of engagement. Use of break out room to enable peer discussion. All synchronous classes are interactive and are based on open class discussion
Online activity25Directed learning: In the preparation for the class, students are given clear guidelines of what to expect with asynchronous recording, video clips, readings and short recording to facilitate discussion and learning in class. this is online work
Online activity25Directed learning: At the end of each session in the Extend section on loop the students are guided towards further reading, video and recording. this is online work

Online activity12Each evening the zoom room is opened 30 minutes before and after class to facilitate interaction between students. Equally the students have the capacity to create their own zoom rooms or one can be prepared for them should they so wish.
Online activity25Debate: Participation in the discussion forum during the week. This leads to peer learning and the development of a community of learners. This happens online.
Independent Study49As an independent learner students have access to student support services to facilitate learning, from academic writing skills, improving their study skills, development of group learning skill and engagement with the library. This enables the student to develop the skill set for becoming a lifelong learner.
