Description

The module uses a learner-centered approach which acknowledges the variety of learning preferences in the classroom. The module will be interactive and discursive, incorporating opportunities for learning by doing and through engagement with fellow students. Learners are expected to participate in a range of activities (both individual and collaborative) designed to prompt reflection and discussion on the principles and practices of teaching. Opportunities for small- and large-group discussion are incorporated into the design of the module and learners will receive ongoing feedback from both their peers and the module teaching team.

Learning Outcomes

1. Design teaching, learning and assessment activities that address the learning outcomes of the leaving certificate physics curriculum
2. Deliver physics lessons to showcase your content knowledge for teaching physics that incorporates experimental investigations and digital technologies
3. Reflect on the learning experience as a student and as a teacher
4. Carry out experimental investigations in physics
5. Evaluate their own practice with a view to enhancing teaching and learning
