Description This module aims to give students opportunities to examine curricular and pedagogical issues for students with special educational needs and learning difficulties. Students will also examine inclusive practices at school and/or class levels. Students will have the opportunity to explore several current topics in the education of children and young people with disabilities, special educational needs or learning difficulties. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Learning Outcomes 1. Describe and analyse current practices in curriculum and pedagogy for pupils across a wide range of areas and levels of SEN. 2. Make links between the research literature and current practices. 3. Relate current practices in curriculum and pedagogy for students with SEN in Ireland to international practices and trends. 4. Discuss, with reference to the research literature, a range of current issues in the field of inclusive and special Education. 5. Describe the conceptual issues and research base underlying current issues in inclusive and special education in Ireland. 6. Describe a range of types of provision for children with disabilities and special educational needs in Ireland. 7. Make links between current issues in inclusive and special education in Ireland and relevant trends and topics internationally. 8.
