Description This module is designed to acquaint learners with specialised language related to socioeconomic, occupational, and corporate topics in Spanish. Students will increase their vocabulary in these areas, develop oral and written skills to discuss a specialised topic, and consolidate grammar structures and communicative functions. Learning Outcomes 1. Understand standard written and spoken language (live or broadcast), on themes related to professions, work placements, job applications and political or economic topics 2. Analyse and interpret a variety of specialised document, including online texts and artefacts, from a range of socioeconomic contexts 3. Demonstrate the ability to apply knowledge and control of the language system (lexical, grammatical, semantic and orthographic) by completing a number of tasks at text and sentence level 4. Express their opinion, ideas and points of view on a specialised topic related to business 5. Produce written short essays in a logical and well organised manner on a variety of social, political or economic subjects 6. Indicative Content and Learning ActivitiesTopics will cover aspects such as globalization, business, human resources, entrepreneurship, fair trade, environmental issues, COVID-19, etc. Students will engage with aural and written stimuli in order to complete associated tasks. These will include interpreting an infographic, watching videos, answering questions and expressing their opinions in relation to a variety of material.
