Description This module is offered online to Global Business (EBS) students during the 12 teaching weeks of semester 2, year 2, while they are on their work placement (INTRA). This module is designed to deepen students’ specialised language related to business in Spanish. Students will further develop their fluency, vocabulary, oral and written skills. They will also consolidate grammar structures for communication and interaction. The module seeks to introduce and understand sociocultural differences between Hispanic countries and Ireland in the area of business. It will also deepen students’ knowledge of business Spanish vocabulary and concepts in preparation for the study of business in Spain. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Learning Outcomes 1. Demonstrate good grammatical control in spoken and written production; non-systematic errors and minor flaws may still occur but they are rare and can often be corrected in retrospect. 2. Demonstrate a good range of vocabulary for matters connected to the field of international business. 3. Source credible, reliable and complex information in the target language. 4. Indicative Content and Learning Activities
Focus and ContentThere will be a particular focus on business Spanish and business Spanish vocabulary and concepts. Topics will cover aspects such as trade relations, entrepreneurship, business communication, marketing, bank sector, etc. Students will engage with aural and written stimuli in order to complete associated tasks. These will include interpreting an infographic, watching videos, answering questions and expressing their opinions in relation to a variety of material. Supplementary online exercises will also be used that students complete in their own time and which give automatic feedback and provide links to additional resources. The purpose of this module is to increase fluency and accuracy in speaking and writing Spanish, with a particular focus on business vocabulary. The module will build on the grammar work carried out in module SP295 by consolidating students understanding of core grammar topics and introducing new grammar elements. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
