Description
This module is designed to equip students with the theoretical knowledge to design and deliver effective S&C programs in a high-performance setting.

Learning Outcomes
1. Distinguish between the primary training phases within an annual training plan and identify training priorities for athletes/teams within each phase 2. Identify suitable load management strategies to enhance performance, minimize the risk of over-training and reduce risk of injury 3. Recognize and consider the most effective communication strategies when coaching and cueing athletes 4. Search for and critically-appraise scientific literature 5. Recognise and value the strengths that each individual brings to a team 6. Identify and engage with strategies to support resilience and adaptability 7. Demonstrate the ability to constructively motivate oneself and others

Loop Quiz | Video based MCQ assessing coaching competencies | 30% | Week 8 | Group project | Students will be required to deliver a 20-minute group presentation with 5 minutes of questions on an annual training program for a given sport/athlete. You will be marked as a group on this presentation (worth 40% of the module). Each member of the group will be expected to contribute to the presentation. Students are also required to submit an accompanying individual report (1,000 words max) outlining the training program (worth 30% of the module). This report is not limited to individual sections that may be allocated as part of the group presentation and should encompass all aspects of the training program. | 70% | Week 12 |
