Description

The purpose of this module is to provide the student with a practical and theoretical understanding of the role of exercise in the prevention and management of chronic, lifestyle-mediated diseases

Learning Outcomes

1. Identify the benefits and risks of physical activity and exercise
2. Explain the principles of clinical exercise testing
3. Practice exercise preparticipation health screening
4. Discuss the epidemiology, pathophysiology and management of cardiovascular disease, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and cancer
5. Describe the physiological responses to exercise in health and chronic disease
