Description This module is designed for elementary users of Arabic. Students will consolidate some of the essential aspects of the Arabic language, expanding their understanding of cultural conventions. Throughout the year, students will enhance their communication skills in their target language, by performing individual and collaborative tasks. Students will develop their ability and competence in spoken production and basic oral interaction in the target language while establishing solid listening and writing skills. By the end of this course, students should learn more about the Arabic culture and traditions and critically evaluate Arabic cultural information, gaining more vocabulary, becoming more fluent, and developing lifelong learning strategies to help as the learning process continues. All teaching materials are designed at the A2.1 level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for languages (CEFR). | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

Learning Outcomes 1. Produce short texts on matters of personal relevance e.g. write short basic descriptions of events, activities and personal experiences using present and past simple. Also, engage in basic social communication online (Sharing news and making/confirming arrangements to meet). 2. Demonstrate effective oral skills in a range of social situations (e.g presentation or description of people, living or working conditions, daily routines and basic past activities and personal experiences). 3. Produce short texts on matters of personal relevance e.g. write short basic descriptions of events, activities and personal experiences using present and past simple. Also, engage in basic social communication online (Sharing news and making/confirming arrangements to meet). 4. Demonstrate control of basic structures of the language as well as increasingly complex grammatical structures (e.g word order in main and subordinate clauses, the use of genders and cases, adjectival endings, verb tenses). 5. Continue identifying economic, social and cultural similarities and differences between Ireland and Arabic-speaking countries. 6. Use IT skills to access language specific-resources (life-long learning) to be able to reflect on your own learning path in your future progression in the language. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
