Description

In this module, students will work under a supervisor to carry out a project in the areas of astrophysics and/or relativity. Formal aspects of the module will help the students to develop research skills, technical writing skills and presentation skills.

Learning Outcomes

1. Source, extract and digest material relevant to their research project
2. Critique the technical details of source articles, including finding appropriate references for the relevant results and concepts and supplying missing details.
3. Take responsibility for the progression of their work under the guidance of a supervisor.
4. Write a well-structured, clear and grammatically correct report containing a suitable balance between broad overview and technical details
5. Produce documents using Latex
6. Design, produce and deliver a presentation that strikes the appropriate balance between correct technical detail and accessibility to a general scientific audience.
