Description This module examines the aircraft leasing industry and how the industry works within the world of commercial aviation. The aim of the module is to provide students with an opportunity to develop a comprehensive understanding of the principles of aircraft leasing. The module focuses on the business model of an operating lessor and examines how an operating lessor interacts with other industry players (e.g. airline and aircraft manufacturers) to initiate, develop and manage aircraft leasing activity. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

Learning Outcomes 1. Describe the aircraft leasing industry and demonstrate up-to-date knowledge regarding: The major stakeholders in the industry: aircraft lessors, airlines, OEMs, banks etc.; Scale of the industry, (e.g. size and value of the worlds leased fleet); The aircraft leasing model and how works for the various stakeholders. 2. Present the typical process for letter of intent and lease negotiation between lessor and potential lessee and demonstrate knowledge of the anatomy of a typical operating lease. 3. Describe in detail the technical considerations reviewed during the formation of a lease agreement and demonstrate an understanding of the principles of asset value protection and risk management with respect to the aircraft and engines maintenance status, records and configuration. 4. Discuss the typical activities managed by the lessors deal team during an aircraft transition process. 5.
