Description
This is a blended learning module which seeks to foster the capacity for awareness, reflection and self-assessment. Learners will be exposed to a variety of tools and techniques assessing personal learning styles, strengths, bias, cultural understanding, well-being and the management of technology. Through completion of digital badges, learners will better understand their own strengths and identify opportunities for improved self-management, while reflective exercises will expose learners to a variety of career experiences. Learning in the module will be captured through the development of a dynamic e-portfolio providing a means for students to explore, reflect and monitor their own potential and progress.

To cover online learning, application in day-to-day life, lecture materials and assigned readings.
Containing six individual reflective journal entries completed, one for each of the first six weeks of the module:

Getting to Know Yourself The basis and significance of reflection and self-assessment. Personality and strengths based assessment.
Presentation Skills Virtual Reality lab session with opportunity to practice presentation skills and receive feedback.
Emotional Intelligence Online self-assessment EQi questionnaire and application in real-life during challenge week.
Understanding and Valuing Values Online self-assessment Values-based indicator of motivation (VbiM) questionnaire and application in real-life during challenge week.
Self-Management & Personal Performance Online learning (Discover Life Skills) in relation to self-management, self-efficacy, and growth mindset. Includes time management, setting goals and targets, managing energy, flow and well-being, and understanding the role and impact of technology.
Cross-cultural awareness discussion board Assessment of the strengths and weaknesses of a national culture assessment tool and the strengths and weaknesses of using Gen AI to understand national culture. Discussion and interaction with other students.
Career Orientation and Anchors Career paths, ladders and anchors. Reflection on the past, present, and future. Career visioning exercises Block 1 (Your World of Work), Block 3 (Career Research Skills and Career Wisdom), Block 4 (Career Action Planning); Block 5 (CV: Find Your Future), career anchors reflection (desert island discs exercise), and career management lecture.
