Description This module aims to introduce the student to: anatomy terminology, the skeleton and joints of the body, musculoskeletal embryology, joint classification, muscle anatomy and mechanics, functional and surface anatomy of the cervical spine and upper limb, neuroanatomy 1 (nerve, spinal cord) and anatomy of the skull. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

Learning Outcomes 1. Employ accurate anatomy terminology 2. Describe joint classifications and divisions of the skeleton 3. Describe the anatomical structure of the skull, including functional and surface anatomy 4. Explain the anatomical structure of the nervous system, the brain and the spinal cord 5. Describe the functional and surface anatomy of the cervical spine 6. Describe the functional and surface anatomy of the shoulder girdle, elbow and forearm, and wrist and hand 7. Outline and detail the muscles of the upper limb 8. Illustrate the pathways by which motor and sensory information passes between the periphery and the brain 9.
