Description

During this module, students get a practical training as researchers in a specialised research topic of interest related to Chemistry. As well as the generation of experimental data, students will learn to critically analyse and synthesise research data, and present their findings to a technical audience.

Learning Outcomes

1. Design and plan experimental and desk-based procedures to investigate and answer a specific research question
2. Perform practical laboratory techniques and/or computing skills in a safe and competent manner for the purposes of investigative research
3. Develop a level of research independence in relation to experimental design planning and analysis of experimental data
4. Process and interpret experimental (and/or secondary data) in the context of addressing a specific research question
5. Document a clear and accurate record of experimental methods used and desk-based approaches taken as appropriate
6. Effectively communicate the findings from their research project in oral and written formats by way of a critical analysis and interpretation of experimental data in the context of the original research problem proposed
