Description

This module is designed for intermediate users of Chinese language (including heritage Chinese speakers). Through authentic materials and cultural exploration, students will be able to enhance their existing Chinese language skills and boost their employability after graduating from university. Topics will be situated in a broad socialized communicative context which covers job interviews, opinion expressions, business trips, etc. All teaching materials will be designed at the B1.1 level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).

Learning Outcomes

1. Express ideas, opinions, and arguments effectively in various social and professional contexts, such as job interviews, presentations, and business trips.
2. Produce well-structured and coherent written texts in Chinese, on personal, social and cultural themes with accurate use of Chinese characters and appropriate language registers.
3. Improve listening skills to understand Chinese spoken at a natural pace. Comprehend and analyze authentic texts on various topics.
4. Demonstrate the application of language knowledge by independently and collaboratively completing a variety of language tasks with increasing proficiency and accuracy.
5. Analyse and discuss cultural similarities and differences between Chinese culture and other cultures. Demonstrate evidence of reflective thinking and intercultural awareness on the tasks carried out individually or as part of a working group.
6. Develop proficiency in utilising digital tools and resources for language learning. Equipped with the necessary skills for lifelong learning and enhanced employability.
