Description

This module is designed for intermediate users of Chinese language (including heritage Chinese speakers). Through authentic materials and cultural exploration, students will be able to enhance their existing Chinese language skills and boost their employability after graduating from university. Topics will be situated in a broad socialized communicative context which covers social topics such as traveling, extracurricular activities, exercise, and career development etc. All teaching materials in this module are designed at the B1.2 level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for languages (CEFR).

Learning Outcomes

1. Scan texts in order to locate and gather the desired information on familiar subjects from different written materials and websites.
2. Communicate orally and in an intelligible manner, on familiar topics related to his/her interests, being able to enter unprepared into conversations to exchange, check and confirm information pertinent to e.g.everyday life, university life, interests, travel etc.
3. Produce cohesive texts (creative, factual etc) in Chinese on personal, social and cultural themes using a wide range of grammar structures.
4. Comprehend and analyze authentic Chinese texts of moderate complexity with greater understanding.
5. Demonstrate cultural sensitivity and awareness in communication and interactions within Chinese-speaking contexts
6. Continue to develop proficiency in utilizing digital tools and resources for language learning. Equipped with the necessary skills for lifelong learning and enhanced employability.
