Description

INACTIVE - To develop an understanding of the need for IT architecture and the role of the IT Architect. An increased understanding of the foundations of IT architecture, and a new exposure to principles of best practice in applying architectural principles. An appreciation of issues associated with managing IT architecture.

Learning Outcomes

1. Explain the function of the IT Architect in the context of medium and large scale systems development.
2. Recognise the various roles played by IT Architects in the development of information systems
3. Translate various functional and non functional requirements into an architectural framework for systems development.
4. Demonstrate a proficiency in developing models including component models, use-case models, architecture overviews and system context diagrams which describe the static and dynamic aspects of Information Technology Systems.
5. Apply techniques using components and patterns gleaned from experience, in the solution architecture of new problems and projects.
6. Demonstrate an ability to make presentations in public.
