Description
The aim of this modules is to provide the learner with an ability to communicate effectively in business settings, to prepare students for the workplace (INTRA) and to provide an appreciation for the Social, Legal, Ethical and issues associated with a professional and industrial work environment.

Learning Outcomes
1. Describe the vocabulary and concepts of both social, legal, ethical and regulatory approaches and be prepared to deal with workplace issues on the basis of this understanding.
2. Demonstrate appreciation of the skills and knowledge, workplace relationship and team working to be acquired during INTRA
3. Demonstrate what is required for, and the barriers to, good communication.
4. Construct approaches to managing within legal, ethical and regulatory parameters.
5. Develop a philosophical and legal outlook that will be transferable to academic study and work generally.
6. Prepare good business reports and presentations
7. Assess the key social, legal, ethical and regulatory issues involved in working professionally in computing.

| Assignment | A variety of weekly assessments will be implemented on a continuous basis with each building upon the previous. In addition to active participation in in-class activities, there will be a series of exercises for skills development such as: making presentations (solo and teams); self-reflection on presentations (video recorded); business report writing; business plan/proposal writing (Dragon Den's game); technical report writing; and learning self reflection. | 70% | Every Week | | Formal Examination | Formal end of semester examination. | 30% | End-of-Semester |
