Description

This module focuses on the different market structures, game theory, behavioural economics, asymmetric information, adverse selection, moral hazard and externalities. Concepts will be discussed intuitively, graphically and mathematically.

Learning Outcomes

1. Understand the main characteristics and outcomes for the different market structures.
2. Examine the interdependence between different agents using concepts and models from game theory.
3. Understand the key concepts in behavioural economics and its importance when examining irrational behaviour.
4. Examine the main models of asymmetric information and show how they can be used to analyse the effect of information asymmetries on agents, incentives and their implications for consumers and firms behaviour as well as for economic policies.
