Description

Díreoidh an modúl seo ar fheasacht teanga, scileanna léitheoireachta agus scríbhneoireachta agus oideolaíochtaí ina bhfuil béim ar thacú le foghlaimeoirí a bhfuil riachtanais speisialta oideachais orthu i scoileanna lán-Ghaeilge. Beidh béim ar chleachtais a chuireann le forbairt na litearthachta Gaeilge. Déanfar iniúchadh ar an dátheangachas agus ar mheasúnú sa dátheangachas. Cuirfidh na mic léinn eolas ar ghnéithe sáiniúla na Gaeilge, m.sh. gramadach, fónaic agus litriú. Beidh béim ar fheasacht teanga. Cuirfear lena dtuiscint ar chur chuige ionduchtach i dteagasc na gramadaí le dul i ngleic leis na dúshláin sa tumoideachas. Leagfar béim ar na botúin is coitianta agus conas díriú ar fhoirm na teanga i ranganna ábhar. This module will focus on language awareness, reading and writing skills and pedagogical strategies including a focus on supporting learners with special educational needs in Irish-medium and Gaeltacht schools. There will be a focus on practices to enhance literacy development in Irish. Biliteracy development and bilingual assessment will be explored. Students will develop a knowledge of specific linguistic aspects of Irish, eg. grammar, phonics and spelling. There will be a focus on language awareness. They will develop an understanding of an inductive approach to the teaching of grammar to meet the challenge of grammatical inaccuracy in immersion schools. There will be a focus on the most common grammatical inaccuracies and how to focus on form in language and in content classes.

Learning Outcomes

1. LO1 Iniúchadh a dhéanamh ar na botúin ghramadaí is coitianta sa Ghaeilge i scoileanna lán-Ghaeilge agus tuiscint a fhorbairt ar shealbhú an dara teanga sa tumoideachas. Critically examine the most common grammatical errors in Irish in Irish-medium and Gaeltacht schools and develop an understanding of second language acquisition in immersion schools.
2. LO2 Réasúnaíocht a chur chun cinn ar an teagasc foirm-dhírithe i suíomh lán-Ghaeilge agus tuiscint chriticiúil a léiriú ar mhodheolaíochtaí theagasc na gramadaí/fócas ar fhoirm i gceachtanna teanga agus gramadaí. Present a rationale for form focused instruction in an all-Irish setting and to demonstrate a critical understanding of methodologies for the teaching of grammar/focus on form in language and grammar lessons.
3. LO3 Tabhairt faoi phleanáil, theagasc agus mheasúnú ar cheachtanna ionduchtacha follasacha ar theagasc na gramadaí agus na straitéisí is éifeachtaí a mheas don aiseolas ceartaitheach i suíomh tumoideachais i gcomhthéacs taighde reatha. Undertake planning, teaching and assessment on explicit inductive lessons for the teaching of grammar and to assess the most effective strategies for corrective feedback in an immersion settings in the context of current research.
4. LO4 Tuiscint a léiriú ar na mórchéimeanna leanúnacha in ortagrafaíocht na Gaeilge agus na cosúlachtaí agus na difríochtaí idir córas scríofa na Gaeilge agus an Bhéarla. Demonstrate an understanding of the sequential learning milestones in the orthography of Irish and the similarities and differences between written Irish and English.
5. LO5 Ceachtanna a ullmhú agus a phleanáil le ortagrafaíocht agus díchódú na Gaeilge a theagasc ag leibhéal fóinéimeach agus moirféimeach. Prepare and plan for lessons to teach the orthography and decoding of Irish at a phonemic and a morphemic level.
6. LO6 Aird ar fhoirm na teanga agus na scileanna díchódaithe trasna an churaclaim; béim ar theagasc na fónaice i gcomhthéacs na léitheoireachta agus na scríbhneoireachta, tagairtí teagmhasacha d’fhoirm na teanga le measúnú a dhéanamh ar idirghabhálacha foirm-dhírithe. Focus on language form and decoding skills across the curriculum; focus on phonics teaching in the context of reading and writing, incidental references to language form, to assess form focused interventions.
7. LO 7 Tabhairt faoi phleanáil, theagasc agus mheasúnú ar chuir chuige theagasc agus foghlaim na léitheoireachta Gaeilge agus ceachtanna a dhíríonn ar réimse leathan d’ábaltachtaí, iad sin a bhfuil riachtanais speisialta oideachais orthu san áireamh. Undertake planning, teaching and assessment on approaches to the teaching and learning of reading in Irish with reading lessons to cater for a range of learning abilities including students with special educational needs.
