Description

To promote oral fluency at an advanced level; to highlight some of the more difficult areas of syntax and vocabulary associated with advanced fluency; to develop students' awareness of register and appropriate language in spoken situations;to improve and develop oral presentation skills at individual and group level as a transferable skill.

4. Research a topic thoroughly and present it orally in a coherent, structured manner.

Indicative Content and Learning Activities

Indicative content
Students will be provided with a list of discussion topics during the course and one topic per session will usually be dealt with. Participants will be divided into pairs and groups which will change several times. The initial emphasis will be in promoting fluency and this emphasis will then shift to techniques of oral presentation, leading towards the preparation and delivery of a talk by each group. There will be an evaluation of oral presentation skills before the final assessment consisting of the team oral presentation.
