Description

To develop students' general ability to undertake independent research including problem definition, data collection, analysis and reporting of findings. To equip students with a set of analytical, quantitative and report writing skills with which to carry out their research. Students will write a research proposal, a preliminary research report and conclude with writing up their final research dissertation.

Learning Outcomes

1. Critique financial research and assess appropriateness of research question, methodology and data analysis.
2. Use information databases to identify relevant research for conducting literature review.
3. Employ appropriate statistical techniques for analysing data and interpreting results.
4. Write a research report that accurately conveys the research question, justifies the methodology used, and appropriately interprets the results of the study.
