Description

This module aims to introduce students to the key financial issues faced by modern-day financial managers of corporations; the course will also equip students with the conceptual and analytical skills necessary to make financial decisions. This course goes beyond traditional financial analysis and emphasises integrating environmental, social, and governance (ESG) factors into financial decision-making. Students will explore the principles of responsible investing, sustainable portfolio management, and the role of financial institutions in promoting sustainability.

Learning Outcomes

1. Explain the assumed objective of corporate finance and the role of the financial manager.
2. Analyse the concept of the time value of money and its relevance within the context of long-term decision-making.
3. Apply a range of computational techniques to various corporate investment appraisal problems.
4. Interpret and evaluate findings from empirical studies relating to corporate finance decision-making.
5. Identify key stakeholders in sustainability corporate finance and analyse their interests and influence.
6. Apply critical thinking skills to identify sustainability challenges and develop innovative financial solutions.
