Description This module aims to develop the learners’ language competence and fluency in written and spoken production at an intermediate level - B1+. They will encounter a variety of authentic texts, as well as a range of audio-visual sources in order to develop reading and listening comprehension. Awareness and knowledge of culture and society in France are further consolidated. Moreover, teamwork and oral presentation skills are practiced. Throughout the module, the students will perform individual and collaborative tasks to develop their confidence and competence in spoken and written production, as well as interaction in the target language. They will develop skills that will help them source, present and start to evaluate information. Learning Outcomes 1. LO1: Recognize and comprehend the conventions, structures, and purposes of a variety of authentic text linked to their own personal interest and university course. 2. LO2: Express personal viewpoints and opinions on topics related to their personal interests or their university studies, both orally and in writing. 3. LO3: Conduct a group project on a topic of interest linked to their field of study, collaborating effectively with peers to explore the subject while beginning to apply critical thinking. (TC, DACS 4: Demonstrate collaborative communication in a team environment.) TC= Teamwork & Collaboration; CC=Communicative competence 4. LO4: Deliver an oral presentation following a specified format on a subject of interest in relation to their study. 5. L05: Demonstrate controlled use of organizational patterns, developing connectors when presenting orally a subject and writing their point of view. 6. LO6: Utilize a broader range of French vocabulary, lower intermediate-level grammatical and linguistic features to express ideas, describe subjects, and comprehend meaning. 7. LO7: Reflect on the development of your language skills and acquired their traversable skills. 8. LO8: Make effective use of digital tools and resources to enhance language learning and communication skills, integrating technology to support and enrich the learning process ( DACS 5 : Demonstrate the effective use of digital technology for communication). Indicative Content and Learning Activities
Overview This project and task-based course is conducted through French using authentic material (Websites) and introduction of IA as a tool. Language practice In the context of each unit of learning, students will engage, individually and collaboratively, in reception, production and interaction activities, face-to-face on online, designed to build their confidence and to consolidate/enhance the linguistic knowledge (e.g. vocabulary, phonology, sentence structure and function of words and groups of words, agreement system in French etc.) and competencies that will enable them to function at a B1.1 level orally and in writing. They will also extensively practise a broad range of strategies to increase their writing and speaking skills. Digital literacies for language learning and language use Students will learn how to create, mix and re-mix, share and publish digital objects and to participate fully in online French-speaking communities in a responsible, ethical and safe manner. They will continue to make effective use of online dictionaries and varied language resources to increase their language competencies. They will also continue to consolidate their computer skills, with a particular focus on using Web 2.0 applications to communicate with others and IA. Lifelong learning skills Students will engage in guided individual and collaborative activities that will assist them in taking responsibility for their own learning and in developing effective language learning strategies. They will reflect on their language learning experience and outcomes. Module Resouurces This module does not have any book resources. Various resources will be recommended by the lecturer and peers in due course.
