Description

The purpose of this module, conducted in French, is to prepare students to be able to use the French language naturally and appropriately in a large array of situations, either in social gatherings, in everyday life and academic surroundings. In order to do so, students will engage with different text types and practical situations to increase and consolidate their language and cultural competence with particular emphasis on productive skills, both written and oral. FR373 will also nurture the development of a range of transferable and life-long learning skills such as digital literacies and critical thinking.

Lecture	7	These synchronous timetabled sessions are interactive and learner-centered. Students are expected to actively participate in class discussion with individual contributions to whole-class and small group discussions.
Fieldwork	20	Preparation for the synchronous sessions & practice in asynchronous classes is essential in order to successfully engage and follow the class; this includes reading/watching the required materials before the session and completing any assigned homework.
Independent Study	20	Students are expected to take responsibility and engage autonomously in a variety of activities required to successfully complete the course: CA preparation and completion, self-planned interaction with classmates to complete collaborative tasks, study of the subject matter using textbooks and online learning resources/tools, revision of content and feedback, consultation with teachers when needed, keeping up to date with course information and announcements, reflection and analysis of work real
Assignment Completion	3	Students will have to take an oral exam in week 7. Also, they assess their peers on a specific task using criteria similar to those used by their teacher.

Portfolio	CA1: Multimodal Learning Portfolio /Dossier that consists of various tasks documenting and developing the topics and skills covered in class throughout the semester. It will also include some reflections on students’ learning experience and expectations for their semester abroad. Some entries will be assessed individually and some others will be group tasks.	60%	Week 7
Oral Examination	CA2: Oral exam: Successful interactions In week 7, students will have to interact spontaneously on a situation randomly assigned, based on the range covered throughout the semester. This task will be assessed individually.	40%	Week 7
