Description

This module identifies and explores the key ideas, problems, and trends in both global development as an economic process and as a political project in the past century up to today. It considers how geographers have thought about development, from Modernist to Feminist, Participatory to Post-Development approaches, including perspectives from Global North and Global South. Students will get to grips with the tensions contained within the idea of 'sustainability', linked to debates about planetary boundaries and social justice.
