This module covers the dietary assessment, management and treatment of common-nutrient related diseases/conditions in the clinical setting

Learning Outcomes

1. Understand the principles of nutrition assessment of adults in the clinical setting
2. Comprehend the dietary management of a patient with diabetes
3. Be familiar with the dietary management of a patient with cardiovascular disease
4. Be familiar with the dietary management of a patient with stroke
5. Appreciate the principles of the dietary management of patients with gastrointestinal
6. Appreciate the principles of the dietary management of patients with gastrointestinal disease (e.g. conditions related to the stomach, liver, pancreas, gall-bladder, inflammatory bowel disease)
7. Understand the dietary management of a patient with different forms of cancers
8. Comprehend the principles and application of oral, enteral and parenteral nutrition in the hospital setting

Topics
This module will give the students a very good understanding of how to assess, manage and treat a range of common nutrition related conditions that present in the health care setting, including diabetes, cardiovascular disease, stroke, gastrointestinal conditions, and different forms of cancer.
