Description
The module surveys both national and international developments in the aftermath of World War I, with particular reference to events in Italy, Germany and Spain and on those events which led to the recurrence of World War in 1939. The module also explores the main issues in global relations and economic trends in the post World War II world, including the ‘Cold War’.

Learning Outcomes
1. Demonstrate a broad knowledge of issues in the study of twentieth century history 2. Understand the preconditions which led to formation of totalitarian regimes 3. Display a knowledge of international relations in the twentieth century against the backdrop of the interwar period and the Cold War 4. Consider and appreciate the differing interpretations of the Cold War 5. Identify some of the key political, economic and cultural forces that helped to shape the Twentieth Century
