Description
The Project/Dissertation module consists of the production of a major piece of work that marks the culmination of the BA in Journalism. The piece of work can take the form of a scholarly dissertation that focuses on some aspect of journalism, or it can take the form of a substantial piece of original journalism. The module builds on the Research for Journalists module in semester one of JR3 in which students created a proposal for their project or dissertation. Students will be assigned a supervisor who will guide them in the production of their project or dissertation. There will also be a series of classes in the opening weeks of the semester that will focus on particular research methods, or particular media formats. However, the project or dissertation is a piece of independent work and should be driven primarily by the student. Students who opt for original journalistic projects must also write and submit a reflective essay in which they articulate what they learned in the production of their project.
