Description
This module exposes students to current trends in emergency management research. It explores how to critically appraise relevant research/literature and how to assess the quality of journals and papers. Finally, theory and theories in Emergency Management are identified and investigated.

Learning Outcomes
1. select, analyse, interpret and evaluate a range of research papers relevant to global trends and current thinking in emergency management. 2. determine the core components of a problem/issue, their relationships to each other and to the practice of emergency management. 3. recognise, articulate and challenge assumptions in published research. 4. evaluate the ethics, responsibility, reliability, validity and overall quality of published research in emergency management.
