Description
This module builds on the techniques learned in MC114 (Jazz Aural Training 1 and 2), focusing on the study of modes, intervals, and exercises in various major and minor keys. Basic rhythmic patterns will be studied along with an introduction to common harmonic progressions. Study of modulation including the use of secondary and substitute dominants will also be included.

Learning Outcomes
1. Demonstrate skills required for music literacy and effective ensemble performance, including musical memory 2. Be adept at melodic reading, melodic dictation, and the study and recognition of common harmonic models 3. Recognise common harmonic progressions that include secondary and substitute dominants 4. Aurally identify and be able to sing Lydian, Mixolydian, Dorian, Phrygian modes, along with melodic and harmonic minor scales. 5. Be competent at common conducting patterns

Jazz Aural Training 3 - Ear Training skills developed through singing and dictation drills - Study of melodies and chord progressions that demonstrate all major modes - Study of melodic and harmonic minor scales. - Rhythm studies presented through rhythmic core motives.
Jazz Aural Training 4 - Study of melodies, intervals, chord qualities and exercises in various minor keys. - Continued study of basic rhythmic patterns. - Continued study of common harmonic progressions. -Continued study of conducting patterns and common music notation.
