Description
This module introduces students to methods of solving partial differential equations. Students will become familiar with first order quasi-linear and second order linear partial differential equations. A selection of analytic techniques for solving some partial differential equations that frequently occur in applications will be given. This module provides a platform for modelling with partial differential equations.

Learning Outcomes
1. demonstrate understanding of selected definitions from the module content 2. use selected solution techniques from the module content 3. solve a wide range of problems from the module content

| Type | Description | % of total | Assessment Date |
| In Class Test | The in-class test will test understanding of various methods of solving partial differential equations. | 50% | Week 6 | | In Class Test | As previous in-class test. | 50% | Week 11 |
| Reassessment Requirement Type |
Resit arrangements are explained by the following categories;
RC1: A resit is available for both* components of the module.
RC2: No resit is available for a 100% coursework module.
RC3: No resit is available for the coursework component where there is a coursework and summative examination element.
* ‘Both’ is used in the context of the module having a coursework/summative examination split; where the module is 100% coursework, there will also be a resit of the assessment
