Description This module is designed to build on the module Personal and Professional Development 1. It aims to provide the student with the opportunity to develop skills of effective study and academic writing, utilising a variety of information and technical sources which contribute to nursing knowledge and practice. The module also aims to enhance the students’ knowledge and understanding of the legal and professional frameworks and legal concepts that are significant for nursing practice. Students will consider these concepts in addition to relevant legislation and examine their application to clinical practice and relevance to personal and professional development. Learning Outcomes 1. Demonstrate an understanding of the information sources and the skills needed for evidence-based practice, academic writing and the development of professional presentations. 2. Critically reflect on interpersonal & professional experiences in the clinical environment incorporating identified reflective frameworks. 3. Demonstrate an understanding of the Irish Legal System and statutory legislation that are relevant to nursing practice. 4. Explore the concepts of duty of care, tort of negligence, confidentiality and consent with respect to all client groups and their implications for nursing practice. 5. Demonstrate knowledge of the contribution of health informatics to healthcare management and nursing practice. 6.
