Description

This module will provide students with a basic background to infection and immunity. It will enable students to identify types of infectious diseases and enhance their knowledge of emerging and re-emerging infections. In addition the module will give students an understanding of immunology and how this system relates to the severity of infection. This module will also provide information on infectious diseases that are of global significance.

Learning Outcomes

1. Demonstrate a basic knowledge of infectious disease
2. Portray an understanding of emerging and re-emerging infections
3. Discuss infections of current global significance
4. Understand the principles of immunology
5. Demonstrate the importance of immunological competency in the fight against infectious disease
6. Discuss the major interventions used in treating or combating infectious disease
